February 1, 2018 BANC3 is supporting Iowa State University's initiative, "InterchangeSE: A Federated Multimodal Simulation Environment for Studying Interactions between Different Modes of Travel," to find the impact of stress levels on various actors in traffic incidents. In support of this project, BANC3 is developing head-mounted AR displays for construction workers. Augmented reality (AR) has the potential to revolutionize the transportation industry and significantly change the transmittal and ingestion of information in different modes of transportation by providing just-in-time, heads-up, and hands-free interactions. This will lead to improved efficiency and safety in transportation. As an example, an optical see-through head-mounted display (HMD) can be life saving for construction workers in a connected world. The leading cause of construction worker fatalities involves collisions with construction vehicles. In a connected world, these incidences could be avoided with AR helmets that warn workers about time before an impending collision without distracting them from the job in hand. This $1.5 million project, which includes funding in part by the Federal Highway Administration, is slated for completion in 2021. |
February 26, 2018 BANC3, one of the leading players in the Augmented Reality (AR) product arena, has been selected for a Phase II Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) program for "Augmented / Mixed Reality for Live Fire Ranges." Building on the success of its Phase I research, BANC3 will develop a Head Mounted Display (HMD) and AR software app that will revolutionize U.S. Army Basic Rifleman Marksmanship training by replacing traditional silhouette targets with virtual targets. These enhancements will provide advanced training scenarios while significantly reducing maintenance. BANC3 is developing a see-through Augmented Reality prototype to create realistic simulated human avatar overlays in lieu of standard silhouette representations. This innovative technology can simulate more complex scenarios, including low light conditions, obscurants (smoke), and realistic target behavior during live fire training exercises. BANC3's AR solution addresses major technical challenges including: highly accurate head tracking to correctly adjust the simulated target position in the shooter's field of view, real-time object recognition to compensate for occlusion from the weapon sight and other objects, and helmet mounted display optics and sensors that are small and light enough to avoid any impact to the shooter's head position and aim. BANC3 is committed to developing this AR technology for the US Army to improve the quality and realism of basic marksmanship training. The company envisions a promising commercialization path for the technology, including integration with the US Army training ranges, transfer of the technology to the USMC training ranges, and ultimately, transition to civilian law enforcement training ranges. |
July 23, 2018 The US Army (ACC-APG, Belvoir Division) has awarded BANC3 a prime contract for the $192 Million Rapid Acquisition of Materials for Prototyping (RAMP) Multiple-Award Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity (MA IDIQ). This contract was awarded on behalf of the CERDEC Night Vision and Electronic Sensors Directorate (NVESD) to satisfy requirements of NVESD's mission to develop, prototype, evaluate, and provide worldwide technical and field support of advanced research and development (R&D) and specialized sensors for NVESD and other agencies. Previously, BANC3 provided support for NVESD as a prime contractor on the Warrior-Enabling Broad Sensors (WEBS) IDIQ. BANC3 is proud to continue its strong record of past performance in support of NVESD as a RAMP prime contractor. |
October 3, 2018 – BANC3 Selected as a Prime Contractor for US Army's $12.1 Billion ITES-3S ID/IQ Contract: BANC3, a leader in C4ISR solutions, is pleased to announce its selection as a prime contractor for the US Army's $12.1 Billion Information Technology Enterprise Solutions-3 Services (ITES-3) ID/IQ contract. ITES-3 is expected to be a primary source of the Army's IT-related services worldwide and will be managed by the Computer Hardware, Enterprise Software and Solutions (CHESS) department of the Army. ITES-3's scope includes a complete range of services and solutions needed to support the Army's enterprise infrastructure and infostructure goals for Information Technology (IT) services worldwide. Primary service areas for ITES-3 include cybersecurity; information systems security & assurance; business process re-engineering, enterprise design, integration and consolidation; networks/systems operations & maintenance; telecommunications/systems operation and maintenance; supply chain management; IT education & training. In addition to ITES-3S, BANC3 is a Prime Contractor for the DoD Responsive Strategic Sourcing for Services (RS3), DoD Army CERDEC NVESD's RAMPs, Army CECOM Software Engineering Centers' SSESNexGen, and ARDEC Tactical Mission Command Applications (TMCA) IDIQs. BANC3's customers include the Army, such as PEOs, CERDEC, and CECOM; as well as the Air Force and the Navy. BANC3 features capabilities in Augmented Reality (AR) products and applications as well as Next Generation Radio Frequency Detection Collection System for Space Systems Products. BANC3's X1 Augmented Reality Glasses are being utilized by various government customers and are currently in further development for BANC3's SBIR Phase II award from PEO-STRI, which uses Augmented Reality for soldier training. With ITES-3, BANC3 continues its strong trend of successful contracts in support of the Department of Defense through Information Technology, Engineering & Technical Support, Research & Development, and other professional services since its founding in 2000.
